Buffalo Winter Parking Rules

In the City of Buffalo, winter parking regulations are strictly enforced to allow snowplows to safely and effectively clear the streets. These rules typically take effect every day from November 15th through April 1st.

Bus Routes vs. Side Streets

  • Bus Routes: Overnight parking on designated bus routes is strictly prohibited between 1:30 AM and 7:00 AM.
  • Side Streets: Alternate parking rules on side streets are enforced during the daytime, specifically between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Free Text Alerts (BuffAlert)

The City of Buffalo offers a pilot program to help residents remember the parking restrictions and avoid tickets. You can sign up for the BuffAlert Parking Update program to receive a text message or phone call approximately 24 hours before a restriction starts. To sign up, text JOIN PARKINGUPDATES to 30890.

Got a Ticket or Towed? Bureau Information

If your vehicle blocks a snowplow, it may be towed, and tickets will be issued. Unpaid tickets can lead to driver's license suspension. Fines can be paid online via the City's portal or by mail.
